about

Bridge and Sinclair set the punch-card reader in order and connected it to the visual simulation system. After a few hours of checking each card, it became clear that this is a set of some unrelated commands. Gathering all the cards back into the box, and turning off the reader, Sinclair headed to the warehouse to put everything back in place. Putting the box back on the shelf, he accidentally brushed a small package from the bottom tier. The gray thing with the yellow stripe made a dull sound as it hit the metal floor.

In the Captain's quarters, Sinclair handed the package to Bridge. Opening it, bridge took out an old-fashioned tape recorder and a small audiotape. After listening to the recording, they were seized with panic for a second. The expedition to Titan was now taking on a new nature.

"It's not a laboratory, it's an ark!" Sinclair said. – And it's not the Red rocket I built – it's a copy of it. We are not going to explore, we are leaving our planet for safety.

"But what is happening millions of kilometers away?" bridge asked without taking his eyes from the porthole. After a few seconds, he turned toward Sinclair. - Suddenly, maps contained mistakes and our expedition or already flight are their outcome.

They reconnected the reader to the VSS and found a sequence - the imaging system showed the presence of another byte.

Bridge sent a request to the command center, but even hours later no one answered. He tried a few more times – the result was negative. Then Sinclair suggested sending the request straight to the terminal. The silence of the bridge was broken by the faint hum of engines. Suddenly on the monitor there was a response to the request, it contained only one line: "Sorry, Life not found. Repeat your request?".

... The planet from which the "Red rocket" went to explore new horizons, was under the power of electronic brains, for which people have become a hindrance, a virus that in one moment was destroyed…
